
he tried to stride
down alley
but age infirmed
caught his
gait the knees
hunched him
sacklike
bundled out
into the open
stars spotted deep
blue
the beach invited
sand stippled
his toes left
his identity
behind
shuffled past
midnight bathers
and walked
straight the sea
